A relatively brief board meeting of the Bradley County Economic Development Commission was conducted Monday, June 24. Board members were updated by Rusty Bolin of WSL Sawmill concerning construction of a new wood yard on Highway 189 east of Warren. The new facility is located adjacent to and east of the Fulgham Fibers Chip Mill. Mr. Bolin provided information on WSL and their operations between Sheridan and Benton. He told BCEDC members that the log yard in Warren would be used to store logs purchased from a 30 mile radius and will likely work two or three people on site. The company hopes to grow the Warren operation. Timber will be purchased from Potlatch, Carter Jones, Timber Logistics, and other Warren timber buyers. Logs will be transported to the WSL mill near Benton. He said the company looks forward to working in the Warren area.
In other business, the board accepted the resignation of Harold Mitchell from the board and made plans to appoint another member. Information was also provided concerning the new BCEDC website. Financial reports for April and May were provided.
