Last Friday, the Warren Police Department battled a house fire on Alexander Street. The City of Warren Fire Department responded with two city fire trucks and one Bradley County Rural Fire truck. Nine city firemen and six county firemen worked to contain the fire which was called in at 9:35 a.m. The first city truck arrived at 9:37 a.m.
Editor's Note: I awoke this morning to the early morning national news reports informing the world of the loss of 19 fire fighters who were battling a massive wildfire in Arizona. Each time I got out to report on a local fire, I am amazed at the hard work, bravery, and dedication with which our firemen in Warren and Bradley County "volunteer" their time and energies. I thought this might be an excellent time to say my own personal thanks to them and to give others the opportunity to do the same. Not only is the work hot, dangerous, and very physically challenging, I can not image how it must feel to time and time again see people losing valuables. Hats off to our own local firemen.
