Chamber Board Talks County Fair, Christmas and Tomato Festival
The board of the Bradley County Chamber of Commerce meet for its September meeting in the Razorback room of Molly's Diner Monday September 12th at noon. Board Chairman Mike Nichols presided.
After approving the August, 2016 minutes and the most recent financial statement, the board was informed that a concluding meeting of the 2016 Pink Tomato Festival Committee would be conducted soon to discuss the festival and talk about plans for 2017. In response to a question by Gregg Reep, the board was told a final financial report on the 2016 festival will be presented at the meeting. According to Chairman Nichols, the festival finished in the black.
Reports were given on the effort to secure additional grant funds for repairs to the W&OV Depot and plans to look into the feasibility of tearing down the Bryants Building while leaving the front wall intact. Chamber President Joel Tolefree reported the proposed letter to be sent to the Warren City Council voicing the Chambers support for city efforts to clean up and/or repair dilapidated structures and to require owners of vacant downtown building to make them look attractive, should be ready in the near future to be forwarded to the council.
Updates were given concerning the Bradley County Fair, the Christmas Festival and Santa Train planned for December, the election of new board members and the 2017 Chamber banquet.
The next board meeting is set for October 10, 2016 at Golden Girls.
