The board voted to allow Superintendent Marilyn Johnson to attend Leader to Leader Training.
They approved a resolution for Support of Joint Use Agreement Grant applications. Mrs. Johnson explained that the district is eligible for four of these grants at $30,000 each. These grants are not matching fund grants. They are funded by the Tobacco Excise Tax and must be used for the revitalization of outdoor spaces. Superintendent Johnson explained to the board that the funds would be used to upgrade the park on John Scobey Drive and resurfacing the tennis courts. While this park is owned by the city, the Joint Use Agreement Grants can be used to improve the park since the school uses the park.
In the Superintendent's report, Mrs. Johnson reported on the End of Year Celebration and then turned the comment session over to Jonalyn Reep who announced "Big News" from SEACBEC. Mrs. Reep told the board that SEACBEC tests seniors every other year, and this year, the school earned the Tech Centers That Work Platinum Award which is the highest award presented for achievement of the SEACBEC students scores in Math, Literacy, and Science.
